Mbaranga is a high elevation coffee grown by the Mbaranga small holder farmers in Meru county Kenya. This region is at the foot hills of the Nyambene Hills in the Mt. Kenya region of the Central Highlands of Kenya. This coffee is special because the micro climate is very lush and temperatures cool, thus the flavor profile in the coffee – the sparking and clean cup profile along with the fruit and full body – a very unique Kenyan.
The Mbaranga members have started a seedling program along with a soil testing program to improve quality. Our purchase helps the women’s group to educate and support on sustainability – for example: 20 dairy cows were provided to the group and they are being educated on growing cashew nuts and avocados to diversify their revenue stream.
